Selling Your MusicAudigist - Site ReviewAudigist is free to join and there are no monthly or yearly costs. When signing up you have to fill the form on the sign up page and tell them a bit about yourself. They will contact you with a username and password, and an address to send your CD of songs to.
They encode and upload MP3’s on behalf of the artists in order to keep them all the same high quality.
You get your own pages with a brief synopsis, a biography, band member listing, photos, lyrics, gig dates, MP3 downloads (video in the future) and a comments page so listeners can give you their opinion. You have full control over all this via your own control panel. You sign a non-exclusive contract which means you are free to leave at any time or get signed by a record label.
You get a series of free pages that can be linked from your website, or given out on your promotional material. You get unlimited MP3 hosting and at least £0.50 per download of one of your tracks.
They have a sliding scale of royalty which means that the more you sell, the higher royalty they will pay.
The current sales related royalty rates are as follows:
1-10 downloads per quarter = royalty rate of 50%
11-20 downloads per quarter = royalty rate of 60%
21-50 downloads per quarter = royalty rate of 70%
51+ downloads per quarter = royalty rate of 80%
They also offer web programming and design services.
