Magnatunes runs a site which is quite original because to a certain degree, the pricing of the music sold is left up to the purchaser of the music. This might sound odd, but it seems to be working and if people like what they hear they are willing to pay good money for it.

What the artists get is:
- 50% of the sale price of each album
- 50% of any commercial sub-licensing (ads, web sites, trade shows, films, etc) .
- 50% of merchandise profits
- Wider distribution of the artist's music means more gigs and more fans.
